To raise awareness of the shocking extent of period poverty in the UK we supported social enterprise Hey Girls on the launch of ‘new brand’ UNsanitary – their biggest campaign to date. 3 Monkeys Zeno led the media and influencer strategy and outreach.
Within three weeks we launched the campaign to media and influencers with compelling new research showing that 1 in 6 UK women or a family member of theirs, have been affected by period poverty — a lack of access to period products.
Available from pop-ups at selected Asda stores on launch day, the UNsanitary packs, created by adam&eveDDB, resembled authentic period products but were not what they seemed. Instead they contained items such as loo roll, newspapers and socks, representing what many girls and women resort to as if unable to afford period products.
Campaign highlights included interviews with Sky News (TV), talkRADIO’s Badass women’s hour, coverage on Glamourmagazine.co.uk and London Live.
