We all remember that day. A hasty gathering around one of the office TVs to watch Boris Johnson tell us we would have to start working from home, followed by a few quick goodbyes, and see you soons. I don’t think any of us really thought we would still be doing this 160 days later, but that’s the milestone we just reached.
Working from home has had its challenges and rewards. Yes, we may be calmer, more relaxed, and making more time to look after our mental and physical wellbeing. Some of us have never been so good at cleaning! And while most of us have forgotten what it’s like to be intimate with a stranger’s armpit on the Underground (be honest, no one misses that), we’ve also realised that the noisy hustle and bustle of the office provides an energy, and sense of real human interaction, which alerts us to a million possibilities every day.
But in true 3 Monkeys Zeno style, we’ve had a lot of fun trying to capture and replicate some of that creative energy and spirit, using the latest technology. Whether it’s coming together as a team through “virtual elevenses”, recreating our weekly TMIT (Thank Monkey It’s Thursday) celebration of all things 3 Monkeys Zeno, the famous “quaranteatowel”, or trying to beat our resident brainboxes in the Wednesday quiz, we’ve adapted to re-create the team spirit we had before lockdown began.
And while staying connected through technology has been fun, we’re looking forward to being able to return (even if just partially for now), to a bit of new normality soon.
