Creative shootout

60 seconds to enter; 4 hours to create; 10 minutes to shine; 1 (plastic) planet to save.

Forget the usual award schemes, where you send in your written entry and then wait to hear whether you’ve won anything months later in a large ballroom over a warm glass of wine and a chicken dinner for 500. This award process is in real time!

The Creative Shootout is an annual ‘live’ creativity show and award, involving the best creative agencies in the UK, to crack a brilliant cause. This year 3 Monkeys Zeno, and the other eight finalists, had just four hours to tackle a brief from the wonderful people at A Plastic Planet and help turn off the plastic tap, before presenting creative back to a live audience (think Britain’s Got Talent style voting) and a celebrated Judging Panel (think Bake Off mashed with Dragons Den) at BAFTA in London.

It was a stomach-churning, seat-of-your-pants, not-for-the-faint-hearted day - but it was one of the best experiences to apply our creative firepower to a real and pressing cause. And exhilarating! We talk a lot as an industry of the need to do more to help fix some of the world’s biggest issues but the Creative Shootout is truly a brilliant example of how we as a creative force can come together and do some serious good with some seriously good ideas.

It was our first year in the competition so we’re dead chuffed to have picked up a joint bronze gong alongside the team at Talker Tailor Trouble Maker, and super proud of our talented team who devised and presented our creative response. Huge congrats to Ready 10 for its silver, and Wire for taking top spot, also in their first year. We’re definitely up for it again, so here’s to entering next year’s competition and challenging more agencies to jump into the fire and get involved with this fantastic initiative.
