Launching Microsoft HoloLens and mixed reality in the UK

Microsoft fervently believes HoloLens, its innovative new mixed reality device, will be to this phase of computing what the PC was to the last: the latchkey to a completely transformed world.

Almost two years since its big global reveal, Microsoft announced that HoloLens is finally available to pre-order in the UK to businesses and developers.

3MZ devised and executed a targeted media and analyst relations campaign to launch HoloLens in the UK market.

The brief: to raise awareness and understanding of HoloLens and mixed reality with UK businesses, and inspire the developer community to build exciting new apps for the device.

3MZ hosted 50 one to one media and analyst briefings with Microsoft spokespeople over the space of eight weeks, providing them with a unique hands-on experience with the device. Journalists from all industry verticals were briefed, including manufacturing, construction, education, marketing, retail and healthcare, as well as nationals and technology trades.

The team managed the customer ambassador programme, scheduling media interviews with key global customers to help bring to life the benefits they’re already seeing from HoloLens in their organisation.

3MZ secured an exclusive briefing for the inventor of HoloLens and Kinect – Alex Kipman – with The Economist for a special feature on mixed reality and how this technology will drive innovation in multiple industries. This led to three pieces of coverage appearing in The Economist.

28 pieces of in depth positive media coverage have appeared to date, positioning HoloLens as an exciting new technology that will transform all industry sectors and revolutionise the future of computing, reaching a combined audience of approx. 112,668,278.
